THE PLOT:
An American Con Artist and his flunkly along with his floozy help dangerous revolutionaries escape the failed attempt to take
a small island.
Moran plans on making a bundle pretending to help them all the time planning to bump them off and make it look like a
legendary monster killed them.
But when a real kelp monster shows up the kelp really hits the fan. Can of them survive to see another con.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
Let's reflect, a man pulls off a con by pretending a fake monster is terrorizing them. I think I found the inspiration for
Scooby-Doo. This is about as much fun as Scooby-Doo.
The only major complaint I had is this Con Man should had his flunky wear a monster suit. That would have really been
funny, then the real monster and the guy in the suit back into each other.
Still, Roger had fun with this movie and you can tell by watching, because it's fun to watch even with it's many flaws.
I GIVE IT...5 STARS
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I disagree totally with Zedd this time, the flaws in this movie didn't make it funny, it made it annoying. Flaws like bad
acting, bad characters and a goofy monster. You know a monster movie is bad when you root for the monster. Even though I
must agree that the plot was unique considering it was 1961, seven years before Scooby-Doo began.
I GIVE IT...2 STARS
ON THE POSSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ UNQUE (The story was interesting)
+ SCOOBY-DOO (We both liked the fact this might have inspired Scooby-Doo series)
+ FUNNY (Zedd thought it was funny)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- MONSTER (That is one goofy looking monster)
- CHARACTERS (The fact all we have are murderous con artist or murder would be dictators left us rooting for the monster
to win)
- ACTING (I've seen school plays with better acting!)
And Finally:
- ANNOYING (Voltron found it annoying not funny)
