Godzilla vs. Hedorah
THE PLOT:
When a strange tadpole monster while researching the mysterious deaths of fish attacks a young boy and his father. It turns
out that these tadpoles called Hedorah are alien monster that merge together to get larger. When the creature turned out to
be deadly, it's up to Dr. Yano to figure out how to kill that toxic mess with the help of Big G.
But the metamorphic monster keeps changing and growing even more power with each new form, can even the King of the Monsters
be enough to stop this sludge from another planet or our we doomed to be destroyed from a monster of our own making?
ZEDD'S OPINION:
This is got to be by far my favorite Godzilla movie, even better then the ones in the 1990s'. The effects were perfect; the
eco message hit home without being too preachy and the Smog Monster Hedorah was brilliant. My only complaint is the little
cartoons between scenes; it was poorly done and just got on my nerves. If you thought it was America that placed these cartoons
in you'd be wrong, the makers admitted to it because the plot was too scary. Even still I love this movie and all Godzilla
fans should like it too.
I GIVE IT (9 STARS)
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I know Zedd reviewed this before I came around and I know why he's redoing this. My opinion is about the same, except the
cartoons dumbing it down for little kids really bugged me allot more then Zedd. I think it really got in the way of the story
and slowed things down. But I still liked it and I do recommend it to everyone who likes the genre.
I GIVE (7 STARS)
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ EFFECTS (Best Effects In A Godzilla Movie to date)
+ ECO (The anti-Pollution Message hits hard without being preachy)
+ HEDORAH (The design of the Smog Monster Is Really Cool)
+ SAVE THE EARTH (I love that song, it's catchy and I can dance to it. One of the best theme songs of the 1970s')
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- CARTOONS (The cartoon breaks to make the movie less scary was just silly, it didn't scare me even when I was a kid)
And Finally:
- NOT FOR EVERYONE (If you not big on giant monster movies, then this is not for you)
