THE PLOT:
Adventure-seeker Ted Osborne has convinced his finacee Carole to finance his expedition to an uncharted South Pacific island
supposedly populated with dinosaurs. Piloting their ship is Captain Tarnowski, a ruthless alcoholic suffering from malaria-
induced bouts of insanity. When they arrive at the island, they discover that the stories they have heard are all true. Will
they survive to tell anyone what they've found?
THE OPINION:
I can sum up this movie in one three-letter word, bad. Really bad!! But it is not one thing wrong with it; it is many, many
little things that turn this into garbage. The acting in this film was very good. But if the Captain had a disease like
malaria then he should have been in a hospital and not on this trip. The goofy effects and dinosaur costumes were just lame.
Now I know what the people who like this movie are saying to themselves. It is 1948, give them some slack, the technology
was not around. But take a look at King Kong of 1933 and tell me they could have done better if they tried.
I GIVE IT (1 STAR)

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS)
+ GOOD CAST (A good cast of future stars)
+ GOOD CONCEPT (A classic concept that never really fails)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES)
- LAME BAD GUY (The crazed captain was more annoying then menacing)
- LAME DINOSAUR SUITS (Take a look at the picture and you will see what I mean)
- BAD BACK SCREEN EFFECTS (The blending of human and the dinosaurs was just awful, they at least could have cleaned the
screen)
And finally:
- FLESH EATING SLOTH? (Who ever wrote this knows nothing of prehistoric life. Sloths, even giant ones were not flesh
eaters!!!! Plus, this so called Sloth looked more like a gorilla)
